The Middle School Launch Package

Simple systems, purposeful pathways to success

12 weeks of executive function coaching built for the exact moment elementary structure disappears — before the locker, the schedule, and seven different teachers turn into a permanent gap.

A Story You Might Recognize

Picture a student. Let’s call him Sam.

Sam can do the work. When he sits down with it, he gets it. His teachers like him, and he really does want to do well.

So it doesn’t make sense that it’s 9:40 on a Tuesday night and his mom just found three missing assignments in the portal. Or that the science project he’s “had plenty of time for” is due tomorrow and hasn’t been started. Or that when she asks why, he honestly doesn’t know.

Here’s what’s actually happening inside Sam’s day.

In first period, his teacher gives the directions for the project. Sam listens. He understands every word. Thirty seconds later, a friend asks him something, and the directions are gone, like they were never there. That’s working memory, and Sam’s holds less than most.

When he got the project two weeks ago, “two weeks” felt like forever. Last week, it still felt like forever. Tonight, it’s suddenly tomorrow. Sam wasn’t ignoring the deadline. For his brain, later and now feel almost the same until there’s no time left. That’s time blindness.

And the nights he sat down to start and just couldn’t? He wasn’t being lazy. His brain doesn’t fire up for “important.” It only fires up for “urgent,” which is why he works best in a panic, and why panic is his only system.

For a lot of kids, the skills that get homework done develop almost on their own. They pick them up by watching and trying. For kids like Sam, they don’t. None of this is Sam’s fault. And none of it gets fixed by his mom yelling louder, buying another planner, or taking his phone away. They’ve tried all of that.

What Sam needs is for someone to teach him, explicitly and step by step, what other kids seem to figure out on their own. To make the invisible thinking visible: what’s due, what comes first, how long it will really take, and where to start. To build systems outside his head so his brain doesn’t have to hold everything. And to plan for the nights when it goes wrong anyway, so a missed assignment becomes an email to the teacher and a recovery plan instead of a meltdown at the kitchen table.

That doesn’t happen in one session, any more than three trips to the gym changes your body. It happens with coaching, practice, and someone in his corner week after week, until the new way becomes his way.

Now picture a different Tuesday. Sam checks his own system after school. He knows what’s due. He starts, not because anyone is standing over him, but because he knows exactly what the first step is. When something slips, he knows what to do next, and he does it.

And his mom gets to just be his mom again.

Your student isn’t broken. They need a system built for how their brain works.

Your Journey Toward Transformation

The 12-Week Journey

9 coaching sessions anchored by 3 Family Team Meetings — one meeting every week, all the way through the semester.

1

Before Week 1

Intake Interview & Custom Plan Generation

A full picture of how the transition is actually going — the specific classes, teachers, and routines tripping things up — translated into a plan for the semester.

Your Welcome Kit arrives here — a simple, tangible starting point that makes day one feel real.

2

Weeks 1–6

First Family Team Meeting + Sessions 1–5: Build the Home Base

One tracking system that spans every class, a working backpack-and-locker routine, and a baseline read on where the gaps actually are.

3

Weeks 7–11

Second Family Team Meeting + Sessions 6–9: Practice & Troubleshoot

Daily habits for checking the system, talking to teachers instead of avoiding them, and real fixes for whatever part of the routine isn’t sticking yet.

The Weekly Reset check-in reinforces the habit between sessions, visible to you through the parent portal.

4

Week 12

Final Family Team Meeting: Consolidate & Continue

A look back at where things started, feedback for everyone, and a plan for what comes next — whether that’s coasting on the new system or continuing into high school.

You’ll walk away with the Growth Snapshot Report — a one-page picture of exactly how far they’ve come.

Is This a Fit?

Good fit

A 5th–8th grader starting at a new middle school, showing a first-year dip after being a strong elementary student, or a student with a known executive function gap (2e, ADHD, or otherwise) about to take on multiple teachers for the first time.

Not a fit

A student who needs clinical mental health treatment rather than EF coaching (glad to help find the right referral), or a family wanting someone else to manage the system indefinitely rather than build the child’s own habits.

Ready for a Different Semester?

Start with a free, no-pressure discovery call to talk through what’s actually going on with the transition — no pitch, just a conversation about your child’s specific year.
